We love our military families.

We understand the unique challenges that come with military life. Frequent moves, deployments, and transitions can affect students emotionally, socially, and academically. Sacred Heart employs a full-time school counselor, Mr. Pascual, who provides support in all of these areas.

To help new students feel welcome, our student ambassador program pairs military-connected children with classmates who can show them around and help them feel at home.

In addition, Mrs. Ramos, our Military Liaison and Anchored4Life Advisor, partners with families to make sure military-connected students have the resources, encouragement, and community support they need.

We also collaborate with outside organizations in Jacksonville, including support near NAS Jacksonville and NS Mayport, to best serve our military families.
Sacred Heart Catholic School provides academic support for students with exceptional learning needs in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Through individualized support plans, we assist with challenges in reading, math, and behavior, as well as offer services for speech and specific learning disabilities through the Parentally Placed Private School Program of Duval County Schools.

If your child has an IEP, a 504 Plan, or if you believe your child may need extra help, please contact Mr. Pascual, our Guidance Counselor and Assistant Principal at epascual@sacredheartjax.com  or call (904) 771-5800.
At Sacred Heart, we recognize and honor our military families throughout the school year.

Some of the ways we celebrate include:
Veterans Day Mass
Purple Up! Day and the Month of the Military Child (April)
Anchored4Life Program, bringing military and civilian students together to build friendships, ease transitions, and support academic success
Guidance & Counseling Support through Mr. Pascual for military-connected students who may face frequent relocation or a deployed parent
Dedicated Military Liaison Support through Mrs. Ramos
We know that relocation is part of military life. Families awaiting orders may request an extension on annual re-registration. Once orders are received, families should notify our office in writing to confirm their intent to remain at Sacred Heart or provide the departure date. Student records will be forwarded directly to your child’s new school upon receipt of the appropriate release form.

Purple Star Schools of Distinction

The Florida Department of Education recognizes Purple Star Schools of Distinction as schools that have made a significant commitment to support military families and students of servicemen and women.

Purple Star Schools:
  • have a designated Military Point of Contact on site to assist military families with enrollment, records transfer, accessing services, and tapping into school- and community-based resources,
  • maintain a robust web page with resources for military families,
  • provide a student-led transition program to support incoming military-connected students,
  • engage staff in annual professional development concerning how to identify and respond to the needs of military students and families,
  • participate in a controlled open enrollment process (a school choice process with a finite start/end date) that reserves at least 5% of controlled open enrollment seats for military students, and
  • participate in multiple additional activities to celebrate, raise awareness of, or engage the military and military-connected families.

"behind every strong soldier, there is an even stronger family, who stands by them, and loves them with all their heart."
